One of my favorite ways to decorate is with Coffee Table Books. I got a lucite table specifically so I could show off my collection. Some of my books, I’ve had for years. Others, I just bought when I redid my home. I’m constantly adding new coffee table books to my collection. But I wanted to share some tips I found useful when I was perfecting my living room in case you’re in need of decor update.
1. Make the content unique
Sure I love my Chanel books as much as the next fashionista. I even have my little Chanel corner on my media console. But I like adding my other interests in addition to fashion. I’ve always loved art, so incorporated an art book of my favorite sculptor, Rodin. And obviously, I’m dog obsessed. This Hollywood Dogs book is so fun to look through!
2. Pick a color palette
My home is all white with blush and mixed metal accents. I like to keep my coffee table books in that color palette, adding a pop of yellow here and there. While you don’t need to stick to one family of colors, I find it makes the space feel more cohesive.
3. Pay attention to size
It’s good to have all different size books. That way, you can see what’s underneath when you stack them. While I love discovering new books in stores, I bought many of mine on Amazon. One, they’re often less expensive there. And two, I hate measuring and Amazon usually has a visual aid in showing book dimensions.
Since books can get a little expensive, you can create a similar look by mixing books with magazine. Whenever I find a magazine cover extra beautiful and in line with my color palette, I’ll pop it between two of my coffee table books. Emilia Clarke on the December cover and Kendall Jenner of the February cover of Harper’s Bazaar are currently sitting between my Bazaar book and Paris Through a Fashion Eye.
