Decorating: Eight Ways to Include Your Cat in Your Holiday Celebrations

Your cat is a part of your family. Therefore, it makes perfect sense that you would want to Include them in your Holiday celebrations.

Cats aren’t as social as other types of animals, but that doesn’t mean they can’t be a part of your seasonal activities. Here are some ways you can help them enjoy the excitement of Christmas.

Include Them in Holiday Photos

Many families take holiday photos at Christmastime. The photos can be posted on Facebook, displayed in the home, or given out to friends and family in lieu of cards. You won’t want to take your photo without including your cat. You can even place a Santa hat on its head or a red bandana around its neck, if its temperament allows.

Make Them Treats

Most treats are a no-no for animals, but you can make a special holiday-themed treat your cat will love. There are tons of recipes on the internet you can follow that will help you make something yummy.

Take Them with You on Vacation

Fortunately, there are many pet-friendly hotels these days as well as special pet accommodations available on planes. This allows you to take your cat with you when you are traveling for the holiday season.

Include Pets in Your Holiday Decorations

You can honor cats in general by including them in your decorations. There are plenty of cat-themed hanging ornaments or you can get a cat figurine wearing a Santa hat, etc. You can also include cat figurines in winter scenes around your home.

Make Your Decorations Pet-Friendly

Cats will enjoy playing with your decorations during the holiday season. However, you don’t want them destroying your décor. You can have the best of both worlds by placing fragile decorations up high and leaving inexpensive ones down low so your cat can bat at them as they please.

Photos with Santa

There are many pet-friendly community events that happen around the holiday season such as pet photos with Santa, pet get-togethers and more. Plan a few that you can take you cat to.

Volunteer at a Shelter

Christmas is a great time to think of cats that aren’t as fortunate as yours by donating your money or time to a local shelter.

Buy Your Cat Gifts

Don’t forget to give your cat fun Christmas presents like toys, a cozy bed, or a new collar.

The holiday season isn’t only about your family, it’s about your fanimaly. You can make the most of it by including your cat in your events. What feline-friendly things will you be doing when you celebrate this year?
