Let’s face reality. Our mornings are very important to get started with the right mood and mindset because they can either make our day or break our day. Your morning will either find the energy or drain you. It’s your choice.

But, there is a way to tackle this and it only takes 10 minutes to prepare each night. Because when it is all said and done, a clutter-free house means less anxiety and stress for you. And you will find yourself more prepared.

And guess what? you don’t need to spend hours cleaning to have a clutter-free house for the next morning. But you do need to stay ahead of the clutter.

Watch this video to find out how to have a clutter-free morning in just 10 minutes.  It can also be found on my Facebook Group page, or on my Youtube channel.

10 Ways To A Clutter-Free Morning in 10 Minutes

1. Be sure to put away all coats and shoes

Now I don’t know about you, but how nice is it to come in the door and not bend over, but just kick those shoes off? Or in the winter all of the boots, coats, gloves, etc are all over the entryway so they can dry out.

It usually takes less than a minute to put everything back where it belongs so nothing gets lost, you are not tripping over things, or one is not searching for things in the morning while getting ready for school or work.

2. Put away clothing

It either goes in the laundry, the drawers, or the closet. Anywhere else, it needs to be picked up.

I use an ottoman that is easy to throw things on but things get wrinkled and buried.

It only takes a minute or two to hang things back up that are lying around or to place them in the drawer.

3. Recycle that junk mail

We all get that junk mail. Others still may get the newspaper. and what do we do with them? We usually place them on the table or on the floor. Right?

I don’t know about you, but in my house, there is stuff on every table. I often joke with my husband that I don’t want any table in the house because that is the first place we place anything and everything.

So, instead of placing that junk mail or newspaper on the table, be sure to recycle those items.

4. Place media back where it belongs

Remotes, CDs, DVDs, gaming controls, tablets, laptops….whatever it is, don’t leave it out. Put it back where it belongs so you can find it the next time you want to use it.

Remotes and gaming controls get lost because we just drop them the last place we used them.

DVDs and CDs get broken because we leave them on the floor.

5. Have a place for receipts and coins

When you go to the store, what do you bring home, besides the stuff you purchased. Correct, receipts and coins if you use cash. And where do those receipts and coins go when you get home? Correct again, the countertop, dresser, nightstand, or table.

If you have coins, start a jar so they all go to one place. And use it to save up for something you want.

As for those pesky receipts you need to keep, try a fling system. My husband keeps receipts so I bought him an accordion-style envelope with 12 or more slots so that h cannot only save his receipts but he can also organize them by month for tax purposes. This method not only organizes but keeps things tidy.

6. Keep the bathroom surfaces clear

Where is the first place you go in the morning? And where do you spend a great deal of your time getting ready for the day? It’s the bathroom.

So keep things where you can find them and you are not searching for them in the morning. This will lead to less chaos in the mornings.

7. Clean up your work and the kid’s homework

So it’s morning time and little Johnny can’t find his homework. Where did he put it last night? And you, those presentation notes, did you place them in your bag?

Getting things ready the night before so you have them ready for the next day is a wonderful way to have a peaceful morning.

There will be no rushing to find homework or your laptop for work, etc, because you have them in the place they need to be.

8. Kitchen clean-up

We all tend to clean up a little after dinner. But do we put away everything so it can be found the next morning?

Sometimes we leave the clean dishes in the dishwasher, then means dirty dishes are still left in the sink. You know how it goes.

But now it’s breakfast time and you need that knife you didn’t wash the night before or a bowl that needs to be cleaned as well.

Save yourself some time and stress by cleaning up the kitchen each night.

9. Put toys, puzzles, crafts, etc back after being used

Are you tripping over toys in the morning? Do you need the table space your puzzle is on so you can eat breakfast?

Be sure to teach the kids to our their toys away and you too should pick up those things lying around that are not being used. This will assist in a clutter-free morning.

10. File your paperwork

Do you have paperwork lying all over? Or do you just stack it up once you get, thinking you will get to it later?

Be sure to file that paperwork when you get it. Don’t let it pile up. It will take twice as long to go through it again and file it later.

So there you have it. Here are 10 ways to a clutter-free morning in just 10 minutes. Now, to be fair, as with any new routine, it may take a little longer than 10  minutes when you first get started. But keep with it.

It will totally be worth it the next morning when everything goes smoothly and you have a great day.
