Why You Don’t Need Petty Drama

This post was inspired by a moment I had during a walk a while back.

It was a lovely sunny day. Still morning, so slightly cool. I live near a bunch of parks so there were green trees and lawns of grass and it was just incredibly relaxing.

And I had a sudden realization that I hadn’t talked about a toxic aspect of my life for an entire week. It just hadn’t come up for a while. It was still part of my life and it would be a part of my life for the time being, but for some reason, I hadn’t been talking about it.

And looking back, I realized that not obsessing over that toxic part of my life for an entire week had made that week so much more pleasant.

Let’s get one thing straight. This toxic part of my life was not having a prominent effect on my health and wellness. It was wildly frustrating, but I was okay.

So when I addressed that toxicity when I didn’t need to, I was doing so because it was dramatic and made for a good story. It was a way for me to vent my frustrations. And it was unnecessary.

It was Petty Drama. And I didn’t need it.

And you don’t need it.

You don’t need to complain about that person you always complain about. You don’t need to constantly remind yourself of that frustrating part of your life. It might seem like you’re bonding with someone or opening up, but there are other ways to do those things.

Because when you choose to leave negative parts of your life in their compartments and not let them visit other parts of your life, things get better. There’s more positivity everywhere else. I felt lighter and brighter and happier.
