Are you ready to absolutely explode your blog or business in 2021?

What if I told you there was a pretty simple way you can do this?

The past few months I decided to go all in on my blog. I put in a lot of effort learning about SEO, changing my website design, and focusing on content marketing.

After months of only getting maybe 3,000 views a month, I finally reached over 10,000 blog views a month and it’s still growing!

Here’s a screenshot of my Pinterest monthly views before and after using the strategies I’m about to tell you about.

I know I said I’ve been working on improving the quality of my blog, but almost all of my growth has come from Pinterest.

Keep reading about how to use Pinterest for marketing in 2021 and don’t forget to pin this for later!

Why You Need a Pinterest Strategy

Before we get into my Pinterest Strategy, we should talk about why you should even be using Pinterest.

There are 322 million monthly active users on Pinterest. That’s a LOT of people who have the potential to see your content.

Unlike other social media platforms, you don’t only see posts from the people you follow. You see posts that are similar to the ones you’ve been looking at.

That means even if you don’t have a lot of followers, your posts can get seen by a lot of people.

Users get on Pinterest specifically to find ideas and you can be the one to provide them with the content they’re looking for.

Pinterest is the perfect platform to promote your blog or business.

Pinterest Strategy in 2021

Invest in a Pinterest Course

Now that you know why you need Pinterest, let’s get into my Pinterest strategy for bloggers in 2021.

You might not want to hear this, but the BEST thing I did to grow my Pinterest was invest in a course. If you don’t want to hear about the course I got, you can skip to the next sections.

I held off on getting a course for over a year cause I honestly thought I didn’t need it and I was doing fine.

I don’t know what I was thinking.

Almost as soon as I implemented  the strategies from the course I got, my stats started booming

You don’t have to go get one of those $600 courses. I don’t have the money for that, but Pinteresting Strategies by Carly Campbell.

She goes over her manual pinning strategy, the algorithm, and stuff I didn’t even think I needed to know.

You can see the screenshot below of how much my Pinterest spiked right when I started using the strategies from the course.

Make a Business Account

The first thing you need to do if you haven’t already is change your personal Pinterest account to a business account.

This gives you access to analytics to see how your pins are performing.

A Pinterest business account also gives you access to rich pins. Rich pins show more description about your pin and include your profile even if someone else repins it.

Here’s a guide to setting up rich pins.

Optimize your Profile

The next thing you should do as a part of your pinterest marketing strategy is optimize EVERYTHING on your profile.

We’ll get into search engine optimization (SEO) in more detail in the next step, but all you need to know to optimize your profile is that you need to add keywords.

Here are the places you need to add keywords

  • Name
  • Profile description
  • Board Names
  • Board descriptions

Although you need to add these keywords to make it easier to be found, DON’T keyword stuff. Meaning don’t just list off the keywords that don’t make sense.

To add keywords to your name, you can put something like Your Blog Name or Your Name | Make Money from Home | Side Hustles.

For your profile description, describe how you plan to help your target audience. For example, I help stay at home moms learn how to make money from home.

Board names are another place you need to add keywords. If someone searches for a keyword that’s included in your board name and description, your board is very likely to pop up!

Use SEO Techniques

Now that you know you need to add keywords, how do you even find keywords?

My favorite way to find keywords is actually using Pinterest itself.

Think of the main keyword you’ll be using. For example, side hustle. There are tons of people already using the keyword side hustle so we need to make it a few words longer.

This is called a long-tail keyword.

All you have to do is start typing side hustle into Pinterest and more results will show up. Instead of just side hustle you can use the long-tail keyword side hustle ideas for extra cash.

You need to use this same strategy to add keywords to your pin descriptions.

It can get tricky keeping up with all of your keywords, so this keyword tracking spreadsheet is the perfect way to organize your Pinterest strategy.

Create Pins that Convert

If you’ve been using Pinterest for a while and your pins have never taken off, chances are people don’t like the designs of your pins.

What most people don’t realize is that creating pins is graphic design. If people don’t like your pins, they aren’t going to click on them

Study big pinners’ pins. Don’t copy them, but study them and think about what makes them so popular. Most of the time they use big fonts and bright colors to grab your attention.

I also suggest that you don’t use free stock images. Everyone is using them. The cheapest place to get access to paid stock images is Canva. I waited over a year before I decided to get Canva Pro, and ever since I got it, my pin stats have shot way up.

Canva is also my favorite place to create all of my pins.

Here is a list of places to get free Canva Pinterest templates.

Create Fresh Pins

The best Pinterest strategy in 2021 is to create fresh pins. Fresh pins are new images that you’ve never pinned before.

The only thing I upload to Pinterest now are fresh pins. I usually upload around 10-15 fresh pins a day.

That sounds like a lot, but there’s a simple way to make that many fresh pins.

I use Canva to make the same pin but with a few different images. I also like to change up the text which makes it a fresh pin.

Pinterest Strategies I Quit

Pinterest rolled out a new update that I think pretty much makes Tailwind useless. I only used Tailwind to repin pins. Now Pinterest doesn’t want you repinning pins.

If you use Tailwind to create fresh pins, it might still be useful to you. I’ve just been using the Pinterest scheduler to upload pins.

Another change is that pinning to group boards no longer helps you. Instead, you should pin to your most relevant board.
