Our Container Garden ideas have been flowing since early in the pandemic, so we were very excited to try the AeroGarden. We promised to keep you updated, and I think you’ll be as excited as we were.

To refresh, we jumped into the Aerogarden Container Garden with a nine-pod herb garden, and we have been loving it. It’s seriously an herb jungle, and it has been less than a month. Take a look at the pics below to get a feeling for each plant grows — hint: it really does feel like you could sit and watch the basil grow.

Container Garden Progress: Day 15

The basil pods started sprouting within three days! The chives started out strong, too, but the basil (both varieties) were noticeably thriving from almost the very beginning.

It’s Alive on Day 19

In just four additional days (on Day 19), you can see that the dill is bushier, the thyme is breaking out and even the Italian parsley and mint pods had hit their dome barriers. The only slow grower was the curly parsley, although that is normal (they even warn you about it on the pod label).

It’s Thriving on Day 21

By Day 21, the entire garden was thriving and even the curly parsley had growth against the dome. It was pretty clear that we were going to have a lot more dill (you can see the sprouts in the middle of the branches), and that we would soon have to clip the basil so that the smaller plants and smaller basil leaves would have access to enough light. Plus, yum!!! We love fresh basil.

Container Garden Jungle on Day 27

Pruning has happened and a second prune is definitely due. We might wait until Day 30 to do it, but the basil will start blocking the mint pretty soon. As you can probably guess, we are thrilled that we finally embraced the idea of the AeroGarden container garden. We’ll keep the herb garden going for a while in the pods before transplanting them into soil. We love how fresh everything is, and the helpful tips on the device itself means that we won’t over-water or over-feed them.
