The Groovy List is a weekly roundup of groovy gay pop culture:

1) Groovy Guy: Joseph Bologna
The actor, who died August 13 at age 82, received an Academy Award nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay for the 1970 comedy, Lovers and Other Strangers, which he co-wrote with his wife, actress Renée Taylor, and David Zelag Goodman (the screenplay was based on his and Taylor's 1968 Broadway play). He and Taylor won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing Achievement in Comedy, Variety or Music for their 1973 ABC comedy special, Acts of Love and Other Comedies, starring Marlo Thomas. The couple, who married in 1965, also wrote and starred in Made for Each Other (1971 feature film), Paradise (Emmy-nominated 1973 CBS comedy special), Woman of the Year (1976 CBS remake of the 1942 film), Bedrooms (1984 HBO comedy special) and Love Is All There Is (1996 feature film). They also created the 1973 CBS sitcom, Calucci's Department, starring James Coco, and a 1983 ABC sitcom pilot of Lovers and Other Strangers.

Bologna's other acting credits include such feature films as Cops and Robbers (1973), Mixed Company (1974), The Big Bus (1976), Chapter Two (1979), My Favorite Year (1982), Blame It on Rio (1984), The Woman in Red (1984), Transylvania 6-5000 (1985), Coupe de Ville (1990), Alligator II: The Mutation (1991), Big Daddy (1999) and Boynton Beach Club (2005). His television acting credits also include What Now, Catherine Curtis? (1976 CBS special with Lucille Ball), Copacabana (1985 CBS movie with Barry Manilow), Sins (1986 CBS miniseries with Joan Collins), Rags to Riches (1987-88 NBC series) and Top of the Heap (1991 Fox sitcom with Matt LeBlanc). He and Taylor also wrote and starred in three other stage plays - It Had to Be You (1981) - which they later adapted into a 1989 film - Bermuda Avenue Triangle (1995) and If you ever leave me...I'm going with you!
