However, you would be wrong to think that there are not some great beaches on the east coast. Below you will find some of the most popular beaches on the east coast of the United States. From Maine to Florida and everything in between.

The Outer Banks in North Carolina span over 200 miles. Any activity you could want to do at the beach you can do at the beaches that make up the Outer Banks. From swimming and sun tanning to even surfing. Thousands of people head to the Outer Banks each year. After one visit you will understand why.

You will even find plenty to do away from the beach. From museums to lighthouses. You will not be bored on a week vacation to the Outer Banks. What are you waiting for? Grab your fishing pole, surf board, sun screen, or what ever else you like and head on down to the Outer Banks.

Hilton Head Island

Hilton Head Island in South Carolina has 12 miles of some of the best beaches you will find not only on the east coast but in the United States. Forget about California. Many travel magazines like Travel+Leisure Magazine have named Hilton Head Island the #1 island in the US. Once you visit you will understand why.

There is just so much for you to do here. Grab a rental with an ocean view. Hope on a bike and take a stroll around town. Bask in the South Carolina sun while you feel the cool ocean breeze. Or just walk around town. No matter what you do. Your family and you will find something that is fun for everyone.

Miami Beach

When you think of a beach town, I bet Miami doesn’t pop in your mind for it’s beaches. While they might not really be known for their beaches (there is plenty of them though). Miami is a beach town. Heck it’s a beach city. Plus the word beach is in the name of the city.

Miami Beach is one of the most popular beach towns in the US. Both east and west coast. While it might not be for the beaches and more known for it’s nightlife. Don’t have that stop you from taking a visit.

South beach is great for families. Enjoy the peaceful atmosphere with the bustling cityscape in the background. Or head into the heart of the city to visit the amazing nightclubs, world class museums, or just look at the amazing architecture. You can decide how crazy you want to make your visit to Miami Beach feel.

St. Augustine, Florida

St. Augustine claims to be the oldest city in the United States. But don’t let that scare you away thinking it will be old and boring. While it may be old. It certainly anything but boring.

Hear you will find some of the cleanest beaches in Florida. You won’t have to worry about trash while you are soaking in the sun. Tired of the sand and surf? Take a stroll around town to find some very picture worthy buildings and sites. It’s no surprise why so many people flock to St. Augustine year round.

Cape May

The popularity of Cape May shouldn’t come as a surprise with it’s close proximity to Philadelphia, New York City, and even Baltimore. The beaches are beautiful and the town is picture perfect. From the lighthouse to the preserved Victorian style buildings. You too will fall in love with Cape May.

Spend the night at one of the many bed and breakfast. Walk the shops at Washington Street Mall. Grab some seafood at the Lobster House. Just go and kick back and relax. Enjoy the beach or grab a bike and ride the many trails. Cape Cod is also one of the best places to do a little whale watching. You can do it from the shore or hop on a boat and take a tour. Either way it will be something you won’t forget.

Ocean City, Maryland

Ocean City, Maryland offers miles of beaches and boardwalk. Take in the smell of the salty ocean or sweet treats as you walk along the boards. Or enjoy the many shops that line the beach.

Get your thrill on at Jolly Roger pier. Or kick back and relax to the crashing waves. Or do as many visitors do and do both. A visit to Ocean City, Maryland is fun for families and couples. Or head down on your own. You will still find plenty to do.

Myrtle Beach

Myrtle Beach is another popular beach town in South Carolina. People come from miles around to spend the week and it’s not hard to see why. From the miles of sandy beaches to the shops, food, and rides. It will be hard to find any down time if you don’t want to.

The SkyWheel is one of the tallest Ferris wheels in the US and it calls Myrtle Beach home. Are you brave enough to ride? Not a fan of heights? Fear not you too can have a great time. Practice your swing at Whispering Pines. Or stroll along the beach looking for one of the many places to eat.

Myrtle Beach is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the South East. With over 60 miles of beaches you are sure to find something for everyone in your party.

Florida Keys

Many islands make up the Florida Keys. From Key Largo to Key West you will find something that will free your sprite and soul. From relaxing on the shore to snorkeling in the sea. The Florida Keys are the place to be to let your worries free.

You can swim with dolphins. Enjoy the coastal highway as you hop from island to island on your way to the southern most point. Grab a drink and a sandwich at one of the famous bars and restaurants. Clearwater

Clearwater, Florida might not be on the east coast but it is in the state of Florida so I am going to count this one and you should too. Clearwater beach is a wonderful and popular beach town. Here you can see a movie star year round. Of course, we are talking about Winter the Dolphin from the Dolphin Tale movies. All you have to do is pay a visit to the Clearwater Marine Aquarium.

Trying to avoid the stars? Head over to the beach to water the sunset or to just take in the sun and sand. Clearwater might just be home to the best beach in Florida. The white sand feels great on your feet and the water is nice and warm. Don’t forget to check out the amazing food along the way.
