Derek Chisora has been branded ‘an entertaining loser at best’ by talkSPORT host Simon Jordan after what he believes was a highly embarrassing press conference outburst on Monday.
Speaking in the build-up to his heavyweight battle with Joseph Parker on October 26, Chisora took aim and fired at promoters Eddie Hearn and Kalle Sauerland, boxer Regis Prograis and Sky Sports supremo Adam Smith in a furious expletive-ridden rant.
The Brit will take on the New Zealander – who wasn’t even at the event – on the undercard of Prograis and Josh Taylor’s World Boxing Super Series final Fight.
But Chisora is clearly not happy about the spotlight being taken away from him, and demanded on Monday that his and Parker’s heavyweight bout be the main event instead.
He raged: “Who’s the main event of this fight? That’s not gonna work for me. I’m not going to sell out O2 for them guys to be the main event. These guys wouldn’t sell box office by themselves, so f*** that.
“Either you give me main event or pull me out of the f***ing show… f***ing Muhammad Ali trophy? Nobody gives a f*** about it no more. No-one gives a f*** about little guys anymore. Boxing right now is thriving on the heavyweights.”
The 35-year-old then stormed out of the press conference, leaving the rest of the room stunned.
“It must be bum-clenchingly excruciating for David Haye to have to listen to that,” former Crystal Palace chairman and big boxing fan Simon Jordan told talkSPORT host Jim White on Tuesday.

“Chisora is basically sitting at a table for a fight he signed up for and which was signed by his manager David Haye, who clearly hasn’t negotiated the deal Chisora wanted.”
Prograis attempted to interrupt Chisora’s outburst to argue his case, but the Brit savagely shut him down and replied: “Nobody cares about you bro, let’s all be honest. Don’t get me started.
“I don’t give a s***. Am I taking the main stage yes or no? If I’m not, I want more money.”
Jordan blasted Chisora for his ‘ignorant and arrogance’ and also for being disrespectful to two fighters at the top of their divisions, pointing out he has lost every fight of importance he has entered.
“Chisora’s outburst was based on showmanship but I also think he’s incredibly disrespectful towards the two fighters topping that bill, who were sitting beside him,” he added.
“Josh Taylor and Regis Prograis are bona fide world champions and he at very best is an entertaining loser.
“Every time he’s stepped up to any meaningful fight, and I know he’s had some barnstormers, but he’s lost. He’s lost to Tyson Fury, he’s lost to Wladimir Klitschko, he’s lost to David Haye, he’s lost to Kubrat Pulev and he’s lost to Dillian Whyte.
“Every single time he’s stepped up to a more meaningful fight than a domestic-level fight, he’s been beat.
“There is an element of truth in what he’s saying, this event will not sell the same way as it would with him on the top of the bill.
“But his attitude, I think he’s ignorant in the way he expresses himself, I think he’s arrogant without the substance behind it.
“He’s disrespectful to Taylor and Prograis because they’re fighting in a division which is ostensibly the junior welterweight division – let’s have a look at that division: Terence Crawford, Canelo Alvarez, Oscar De La Hoya, Danny Garcia, Floyd Mayweather, Timothy Bradley.
“By the way I’m talking about stellar names in that division and you’ve achieved precisely nothing!”
