Unemployed to a Fulltime Mompreneur

I began 2020 with three streams of compensation, working as an Administrative Assistant for a nursing publishing company, teaching art for an elementary/middle school in inner-city Baltimore, and blogging for Visit Annapolis and Anne Arundel County. By the end of March, I was down to the publishing company. By May, I had only my ambitions and my voice my poetry and my writing. That is when I realized I had to stand on my natural abilities. As a result, I started leaning into my poetry full-time.

I was nervous and anxious, but I was also confident that I had been prepared for the transition. After all, I begged Allah for this in so many ways. I hassled my ancestors to sever my 9-5 ties and spent well over a year speaking and crying this opportunity into fruition. Throughout my pregnancy, my heart longed to be a stay-at-home work-from-home mom. Deep down, I knew success would come if I made the first step.

I knew if I took the plunge into entrepreneurship and trusted my strengths and efforts, they could carry me to not only where I wanted to be but where I needed to be. And that is what happened.
