I’ve mentally written this blog like a million times in my head, but kept putting it off until today. Since I’m so new to the blogging world, I’m betting no one has noticed my three month absence, except for maybe my mom (Hi, mom!) and that’s okay, but also not okay.
I started this blog to talk about my life, the fun DIYs I like to challenge myself with, and to connect with other women walking a similar path. What I didn’t realize is that I’d overthink it to death and stop writing altogether. Not cool. Every time I thought about blogging this weird voice in the back of my head would tell me my content wasn’t diverse enough. If I wanted to talk about my journey to motherhood, it would say, “You already did that in the last two posts. Post a DIY!” I found myself stressing about what I would say next, when that was never (and will never be) the goal.
A quick life update…
Five days before I posted my last blog, we found out I am pregnant. I already had that blog written and it was super hard to conceal my excitement. Around 10 weeks, I thought I was miscarrying again. Cue several long weeks of depression. As of 14 weeks (I’m 16 now) Baby girl was measuring on track and moving around. Oh, and we found out IT’S A GIRL!! Today I am going in for an appointment with a perinatalist because my blood work came back indicating that I have a 1 in 68 chance of our baby having down syndrome. More on that later.
We are moving out of California within the next year or so. Our sights are set on Idaho. I never thought I’d be so excited, but California isn’t where we want to raise a family. Idaho meets our criteria in almost every way imaginable. We will miss our family and friends, but we won’t miss paying egregiously high taxes, cost of living, and endless traffic. Our goal is to get our families to follow us, and with baby girl on the way, it shouldn’t be too difficult.
Ryan has been taking the financial reigns and is helping me grow the business. Within the next year, we plan to start a second brand selling home decor. The goal for 2020 is to have our hands in many pots. Hopefully something will boil soon. In the meantime, we look forward to this crazy adventure 2019 has us on.
