Ten Years Is An Important Career Mark For You

Ten years is an important Career mark for you that is likely to put your brand on demand. Of course that the former assumes that you have evolved as a professional and kept current with your field’s trends during this period.

Eleven years ago, I knew very little about the field of communication or the art of teaching. I thought I knew though… I was wrong, inexperienced, and to a degree quite delusional. Thinking back, I think I simply didn’t know the difference between good and great as it came to workforce expectations and the how much people value those who “know their stuff.”

Eleven years later, I believe that things have changed drastically for the better for me. Reasonable people respect me and the invitations to join exclusive clubs have increased exponentially lately. I’m still shocked that the board of the Cleveland Media Association voted me to serve as its President next year. It’s unreal to me, I must admit.

I’m also shocked by how many people approach me for professional advice, especially grown up man in their 40’s and 50’s. There are some who even think I could work or partner with them in a job or a venture in Chattanooga! I’m flattered by the former, of course. Is this for real?

I attribute these events to the simple fact that we do get better overtime in whatever we due, especially when we cross the 10 year experience mark. Ten years is an important career mark for you and for me. I wonder what will happen in twenty years or twenty one. You near retired people, tell me.

My conclusion: Perhaps, if you do your work hard enough and long enough in anything that God wants you to work in, eventually you will win the war in your field of expertise, even if you lose some battles in the process.  After eleven years of hard work in higher education, i.e., studying hundreds of thousands of hours in professional development and applying what I’ve learned, things are finally heading my way in ways that I can’t even understand.

Fact.
