What if you could update your home to look more Lavish and expensive without spending too much money? Typically when you want to undertake a complete home remodeling project or some minor upgrades, you incur some high incredibly high costs. This is even more true given that the average cost of home renovations increased by 50% in 2020.

So, how can you make your home look more lavish without breaking the bank? Check out these ten Inexpensive Ways to upgrade your home to make it more elegant.

1. Update Your Lights

Lights can drastically transform your home. The existing light features in your home may be too dim or do not reflect a sense of openness in your space. By simply adding new light fixtures, you can give your home a new look at a low cost.

Consider installing a pendant light in your dining room or opt for beautifully designed lamps to go in your living room or bedroom instead. You can also use statement lights in the home to create a unique focal point to a space. This creates style and elegance. I’m also a huge fan of lights that allow you to change their color right on your phone! They’re surprisingly Inexpensive and add dimension to any room! These are the ones I have throughout my home!

2. Hang Floor-to-Ceiling Drapes

The right curtains and drapes add can add a layer of decadence to any room. Hanging long, textured, and beautifully patterned curtains from the ceilings of your room enhance the height of a room as it draws the eye upward. This gives the illusion of a cozy yet spacious room- especially for rooms with lower ceilings.

Select a light fabric to allow for a good amount of natural light in the room. Curtains are an affordable way of adding more to your living space. As there are a wide variety of colors and textures to choose from, you are bound to find one that suits your home’s overall theme perfectly.

3. Spruce Up Your Walls

Repainting your walls is an affordable way to upgrade your home. Lighter tones allow for the room to feel brighter and more open. Darker shades can create more depth and a sense of opulence.

Besides painting, you can also use wallpaper. I’m a huge fan of using wallpaper with a vibrant or bold print on just one wall in the room- it creates the perfect statement piece. Wallpapers effectively hide your imperfections, add color, can easily be changed, and allow you to select from a wide range not to disturb your home’s overall ambiance.

Adding art and posters are also a fun inexpensive addition to make your home stand out!

4. Use Mirrors Throughout Your Place

Adding mirrors throughout your home instantly upgrades your space while still being cost effective. Hung mirrors reflect light and enhance visual square footage. There are various design techniques you can replicate to create a statement mirror wall.

5. Check Your Roofing

For many homeowners, the roof is an afterthought during remodeling projects. This is unfortunate considering the impact it has on your home’s curb appeal and value. Updating your roof with new materials and colors can instantly make it more attractive.

Keep in mind though that a new roof installation can be expensive. Custom siding may offer a cost-effective way to improve your roofing, although you’ll need the correct siding installation & repair contractor for the highest return on your investment.

6. Go For Small But Bold Accessories

When choosing your home accessories, focus on unique pieces instead of placing those that seem to “blend in.” Unique items can range from antiques such as a family heirloom or something amazing you picked up from the thrift shop.

Items like lamps, candles, or even books displayed on your coffee table can create a bold statement and really personalize your space. The great news is you can acquire these accessories for an affordable price or have them handed down to you.

So, take advantage of yard sales or your grandparent’s attic; you never know what you may find.

7. Upgrade The Hardware in Your Home

An affordable way to make your home feel more lavish is by updating the “hardware” of your home. Replace old door knobs with new ones. You might want to consider copper drawer pulls in your kitchen to make it feel elegant and warmer.

DIY it up by finding suitable fabric and paint to transform your chairs and improve your home seating. When picking out the fabric or paint for your seats just be sure it complements the rest of the room.

8. Get Rid of Clutter

I should have started with this one first! Clutter and random junk drawers are the bane of every home’s existence. The worst part is, it sneaks up on you almost out of nowhere!

To get rid of clutter effectively, you’ve got to be almost cutthroat in your approach: create a pile of things you can donate, things you need to throw out entirely and things you ACTUALLY use and want to keep. For the items you need and want consider getting a chic bin or an ottoman that has storage.

9. Add New Landscaping

Landscaping is an aspect of your home that can take your lawn from shabby to chic and it can be affordable if you’re willing to do it yourself. You can invest in perennial plants like purple coneflowers, common sage, or garden phlox. You can also use these inexpensive ways to make your landscaping a thing of elegance:

  • Use a slice of your lawn for a flower bed
  • Grow self-seeding flowers
  • Dress up your cheap planters
  • Create small deck planters.

If you have been looking to spruce up your home yet have been held back by your budget, definitely consider these inexpensive ways to give your home a new and more lavish appearance!
