Who would have thought we’d be living through a Pandemic in 2020? At times I’m still stare off in disbelief. It can be so easy to get down about all the things I had planned or all the things I should be doing to the house now that I have the time. These past few weeks I’ve been attempting to be better about having a more positive outlook on everything and taking this time to take care of myself. Here are a few tips on things you can do for yourself during quarantine:
1. Make the Most of The Down-Time.
Chances are you’ll never have this much free time again. Make the most of this free time- by doing whatever it is you want to do. If you want to be productive and start a new business or learn a new skill, go for it! If you prefer to watch every movie on Netflix, attend online beauty events, Spend hours putting on face-masks, and sleeping in until noon daily, you can do that too! Spend your time however you see fit!
2. Try Meditation.
Meditation is a great tool to help you effectively manage stress and anxiety. There are several apps (I personally am obsessed with Insight Timer) that can help beginners learn to meditate. Spend some time each day sitting quietly and just focusing on your breath until your mind is quiet. This can be very soothing, especially if you’re finding sheltering hard.
3. Write in a Journal.
You might feel like all you’re doing is sitting at home watching trashy TV, but you’re actually living through a major historical event. A journal might be interesting for you to look back on in later years and remember what you did and how you felt during these strange times. Journaling is also useful for anxiety, as you can get out your worries onto paper and process them in a healthy way.
4. Become a DIY PRo.
Have you always wanted to make your own shelves? Or redo your bedroom? Now’s the ideal time to learn. Crafting and DIY projects are often recommended for anxious people, as you have to concentrate on what you’re doing enough to quiet your mind, but not to the point where it becomes stressful. Completing a project can also give you a real sense of achievement, which could be very helpful if you feel like all you’re doing in lockdown is lounging around the house.
5. Indulge in Some Pampering.
If you can’t spoil yourself during a global pandemic, when can you? Treat yourself to some pampering, whatever that looks like to you. Light some candles, and take a book and a luxurious bath bomb into the bath. Spend Hours giving yourself a manicure and pedicure. Try out a new hair mask. If it makes you feel good, it’s well worth doing. Look at this pampering as a reward for coping through a tough time.
6. Talk to Someone.
If you’re really struggling, look to others for support. Set up a regular chat with friends so you can support each other, or look for a therapist who is offering their services online or over the phone. It’s ok to be struggling right now, but talking can really help.
I hope you find these tips helpful when it comes to taking care of yourself during this pandemic!
