Pancha Maha Bhuta, Five Elements

As the research was coming together for the Surya the Sun God article was coming together, I thought it would be a good idea to delve further into the five Elements of creation referred to as Pancha Maha Bhuti or sometimes called Pancha Maha Bhuta. The idea is that is the five elements of everything. I simply wanted to make some sense of all of it. Since conflicting stories and ideas can often be found when searching around on the internet. Or not even conflicting, let’s just say unclear. So here it is after much research and thought, a mini-infographic that shows the wheel of creation with the five elements.

The five elements also relate to the human body and sensory experience. In the case of the body, it seems to be spelt as Panch Booht. I love languages but this seems to be outside of my scope of expertise. So, if this is incorrect or needs more clarification, feel free to comment and let’s learn together.

Pancha Maha Bhuta, The Wheel of Creation and the Five Elements

It includes something you won’t find in most visual representations of space (yes, it’s the little kitty.) It’s the concept of space and if we can’t have some cuteness or humour when we are trying to learn, then what’s the point?

The Elements and the Body

Our bodies are in a perpetual state of change and are recreating themselves on a regular basis. Parts of our bodies relate specifically to the elements. To maintain a healthy body the elements must stay in balance. Since any imbalance in the five elements can disrupt the equilibrium of our life force, leading to sickness and disease.

The earth element corresponds to the bones and muscles and to our sense of smell. The Water element to our sense of taste and corresponds to our blood and as you know our bodies have a lot of water in them. The air element is linked to breathing and to movement or motion. The fire element is linked to vision and to heat. And, finally, ether or the element of space is consciousness and is linked to sound or vibration. The body is unable to survive if any of these are missing. There are also various vibrational energies in the body including bio-energy, magnetic energy, electrical energy, mechanical energy and chemical energy. All of these energies are the grease for the wheel that keeps our engines turning or we can say that they are our vital or life force, aka prana shakti.

Consciousness is subjected to the state of the nervous system.

Five Elements Healing Meditation

I also am a massive fan of Om meditation chants and videos and this one is so peaceful. It is connected to the elements with the goal of healing and balancing our bodies. I have learned a lot from and listened to many beautiful chants and meditation by DhyaanGuru Dr. Nipun Aggarwal. This specific Om video includes sounds from all the elements. It also includes bell tones along with the repetition of the beautiful vibrational sound of Om.
