Two different girls sexually assaulted on two different nights, in two different towns. Audrie & Daisy takes a hard look at the issues faced by America’s teenagers who are coming of age in the new world of social media bullying, spun wildly out of control.

The background of the Audrie Pott’s story as reported by the news –

If you haven’t seen it, please do. It goes beyond reporting on rape. It left me flabbergasted a few months ago after watching it. It isn’t about the crime itself in the case studies but instead shows us how sexism is endemic in society and how social media has been used to slut-shame and victim blame. Boys filmed their misdeeds and that should be enough to be their undoing but not so. It ends in the death of Audrie Pott of the girls by suicide, she couldn’t take the slut shaming and victim blaming and, the other girl amazingly is still standing even though not only was her reputation burnt to the ground, her house was too and the harassment continued. It’s harrowing. Today Daisy Coleman is working as a tattoo artist and started an org called SafeBAE.

SafeBAE works to prevent & educate about sexual assault in middle & high school.

We’ve identified the problem, now what are we going to do about it? There are orgs that are interested in genuinely helping boys and girls do better. If you are a teacher or school administrator check out the following resources and help educate the young people in your community –
