“For every door that closed, a window opened…Been ’round the world and back again. It starts from within…”

In honor of the recent Patti LaBelle and Gladys Knight Verzuz (aka our extended family Sunday Dinner), I wanted to feature this track from Ms. Patti Patti as today’s Inspirational Jam.

“New Day” is about celebrating new beginnings while reflecting on (and letting go) of the past. On the song, Patti expresses her excitement for what’s ahead for her, realizing that the good and the bad experiences she has had in life has helped to shape her into the person that she is today.

That’s where I am in my life, especially now that I’m getting ready to leave my twenties behind. With quarantine, I’ve had A LOT of time to think and reflect. I’ve been through a lot, good and bad, in the last ten years, and I’ve come out a better person overall because of it. Which is corny to say, I know, but man, it’s so true. I’m looking forward to my own new day ahead, with more successes, more lessons, more laughs, and more love.

No matter where you are in life right now, I believe that there can always be greater ahead. I hope that this song fills you up with hope today.
