Harvard Now Providing an Online Course on Buddhism That You Can Take for Free.

If you have ever felt that you need to learn more about Buddhism than today will be a good day for that. The University of Harvard has developed an extensive online course on Buddhism. What is even more surprising and exciting — it is free of charge!

It does not happen every day that knowledge with the potential to be so transformative and helpful becomes so accessible. Maybe that is a big part of the reason why the University of Harvard has decided to make such enlightenment free. Also, with the U.S. student loan debt crisis recently climbing $1.23 trillion, such online course on Buddhism can be for the good of the country.

People who enroll do not need to be current university or college students.

In fact, there is no need of them to be students at all. The online course on Buddhism contains people/individuals that are genuinely there. They want to learn and improve themselves. Unluckily, this is a rare occurrence across the board at a lot of schools.

The instructor of the course is the Professor Charles Hallisey from Harvard’s Divinity School. This professor often happens to be the Yehan Numata Senior Lecturer in Buddhist Literatures. It is a 4 – week course which can be completed by devoting only 6 to 10 hours during a week. Most of the lectures contain info regarding “diverse backgrounds,” as well as “topics that too often divide us.”

Even though the course is archived for interactions, you can still access its content.

Instead of lecturing people in a more traditional or proper perspective, professor Hallisey focuses on promoting open-mindedness, as well as the acceptance of different viewpoints.

The syllabus describes the different ideology in more details:

When we turn to the Buddhist heritages to ask for help to answer some questions we open ourselves to not only learning about Buddhism but also learning from it. This kind of openness to learning from Buddhism is not in the sense of claiming that a Buddhist interpretation is by default the “right” interpretation. Rather, it is up to us to see that real Buddhists have also thought about a lot of the same questions which we bring to Buddhist scriptures, and a lot of the same questions which we have about ourselves, as persons, as well as about this world in which we find ourselves.

So, if you want to enroll yourself in the course, you should do it for sure. Start by registering HERE. You can be on your way to genuine Buddhist enlightenment in mere seconds. If you have the ability to follow through, you will be virtually assured that you are much happier, more at peace, as well as more successful over the course of your life.
