There isn’t a single one of us who has overcome the human condition of self-Doubt. Whether you’re a supremely confident person, a successful writer… it doesn’t matter. You have doubts about yourself.
The question is whether these doubts stop you from doing amazing things, from leading the life you want to lead.
Self-doubt hits you every day. From the moment you wake up. You hoped for a sunny day, but it’s raining outside. In such time it is important for you to believe that the sun will rise again. It is not just a way of thinking to make you feel better. Being optimistic will make any situation feel better.
Just think of the sun as a metaphor for motivation, and you will realize that we live in the weather system. For example, when you have an idea no matter how good, there are some clouds always weighing down on it. These clouds are actually the self-doubt. And they can interrupt our ability to create and do things as we have imagined them.
You are not alone—everyone has these doubts.
Doubts are dream-stoppers. They make you question everything. They make you think you are delusional for even considering to follow your dreams. Just kick these thoughts out of your head and be more self-confident.
Sometimes, self-doubt is a habit. And you need to get over it as soon as possible. To do that you need to be aware of the self-doubt that is stopping you and confront it. Meaning you will need to find out the exact negative thoughts that go through your head. You also need to know when they appear, so you can stop them the next time they do.
Everyone has these doubts. You do. Some of you have beaten them to the point where you’re doing what you love. Others haven’t, and might not even realize those doubts are holding you back. They are—and you can beat them. I’ve done it, thousands and thousands of others have too. We’re no better than you—we’ve just stumbled on better information.
Self-doubt is the feeling that makes us stronger if we learn how to control it.
Being aware of it means you are aware of the thoughts that go through your head and you are in their control, not the other way around. Use those feelings to fight back even harder and grow your self-confidence. Being insecure should never be your obstacle to achieving your dreams and goals.
I know some of you feel the same way from time to time, maybe more often than you’d like to admit. That’s OK. We all do. We are not machines, perfectly oiled and constantly charged up and ready to fire on all cylinders. We are human, which means we falter, we doubt, we feel pain.
It’s me who is my enemy
Me who beats me up
Me who makes the monsters
Me who strips my confidence.
And this too shall pass. Accomplish your goals and love yourself.
