Oh My God!
Nurul and I have just finished watching Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens.
It was AMAZING! Forget whatever you thought you knew. Go in with an OPEN MIND and simply cherish the experience.
I am so happy and indeed thankful to Allah that we are able to catch Episode Vii. No one would have believed how a tale imagined by George Lucas in the 1970’s could have become so vast and impactful on millions around the world.
What makes Episode VII so exciting is the relatively unknown borders that we are venturing into. Unlike Episodes I to III which had to tell the tale of Darth Vader in Episodes IV to VI, VII gives us the chance of new heroes with a tale of their own to unfold.
I guess we are one of the few people in Singapore to have caught the midnight screening on Wednesday night, December 17th 2015. We dressed in our comfy pajamas and sleeping clothes to enjoy the three hour movie. Golden Village (GV) Tampines was packed with super fans dressed up in memorabilia as long queues snaked to the popcorn stand to get a commemorative Star Wars cup. I got a Kylo Ren figurine along with my popcorn.
The cinema hall was packed and it was cool to see so many fellow Singaporeans sharing the same craze as I did. I caught the last Star Wars movie, Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, in Brisbane, Australia, in 2005 with my mother. I remembered how I felt seeing Anakin finally donning Darth Vader’s helmet.
Nevertheless, I simply blew up like a little kid when I saw Lucasfilm glittering on the screen. The hall was filled with whistles and cheers when Episode VII was splashed on the screen accompanied with John Williams’s iconic score. One of the things that attracted me to my wife was her fascination for Star Wars and especially her Empire ringtone. It was special to share this moment with her.
Overall, the movie is mind blowing! I would not deny that some hardcore fans especially those who followed the novels may be slightly disappointed. Nevertheless, George Lucas and JJ Abrams have crafted a wonderful epic that is filled with fear, hope, laughter, suspense, joy and sadness. It was nostalgic to see Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill to reprise their original roles. I wish I can tell you more but I simply do not want to spoil the experience for you. A new saga has unfolded and I truly cannot wait for Star Wars Episode VIII. We are certainly gonna catch it again this weekend hopefully with a D-Box cinema. And BB-8 is my droid of the year.
DO WATCH THE MOVIE THIS WEEKEND!
