Towards the end of last year I received a bundle of products to try from Joico Australia, a luxurious (yet still affordable) quality haircare brand. I wanted to give them a good run before writing about them on the blog, so I could truly see how they work and more so, if they work for me. When Joico Australia asked me which product range I'd like to try out I decided to go for the K-PAK range, designed purely to repair and strengthen hair.



I have long, thick hair that has been coloured at home for years. I always go for dark dyes... chocolate brown, dark brown and currently black. With all the build up of dye, I would consider my hair to be dry and damaged. Of course I would prefer to have it dyed professionally every few months but I'd rather put my money elsewhere, when pump foam dyes work and are so affordable.

So to make up for the damage I cause to my hair, I was in need of products that can restore the life and health of my hair. That's where the Joico K-PAK range comes in. I received the Shampoo, Conditioner, Reconstructor and the Gold Dust Shimmer Finishing Spray (separate to the K-PAK range but I had to try it!)

The K-PAK Shampoo is the perfect cleanser for thick, coarse hair (like mine, eek!) due to the cream-based formula that glides through each strand. While filling in the lost amino acids, it works to heal the hair by restoring elasticity, strength and shine with a combination of ingredients including Bio-Advanced Peptide Complex, Keratin Silicone, Vitamin E and Aloe. I feel like this product has made my hair so much more bouncy and revitalised, even with constant colouring.

The K-PAK Conditioner is a product from the range that stood out to me most. It's a formula the brand recommends for all hair types as it moisturises with a rich, yet still lightweight formula. I think I love the scent of it the most. It leaves my hair smelling like passionfruit and pineapple. My trick with conditioner is to wring out my hair after shampooing so that the strands absorb the conditioner better when I apply it, then I do everything else I need to in the shower before rinsing it out. I've found since using this product my hair has detangled much easier when combing it through, even without the use of a detangling spray.

The last product I tried in the range was the K-PAK Reconstructor. I'm still torn with my thoughts on this one, as I only use it once every now and then. I feel like it absorbs immediately into my hair, which makes it hard to tell whether it's working or not. It's an award-winning hair treatment, and after having another quick look at the website, I now have a feeling I haven't been leaving it on for long enough. It says that it should be on for 5 minutes or more, so I think I'll give it another go the right way!

I can't finish up this post without talking about the Gold Dust Shimmer Finishing Spray. I believe I've mentioned this product in one of my videos already as I loved it from the first spritz. The light-reflecting particles in this soft to medium hold hairspray makes your hair sparkle in the light. Perfect for any colour hair, if you want something special for events or simply for daily sparkle, this product is amazing. I love it.
