The Bharat Ratan, Cricketer Sachin Tendulkar today met 82 years old Tibetan spiritual leader the 14th Dalai Lama at his residence in north Indian hill town Dharmashala. After meeting the Dalai Lama Sachin said, “It’s excellent… very good meeting and always wanted to be here and take the blessings. Just wanted to spend some time and say hello… we talked just about spreading happiness and communal harmony.” Sachin was accompanied by his wife Anjali and Bikram Rathor ex Indian Cricketer.
Sachin and Anjali also visited St. John in the Wilderness Church of North India church dedicated to John the Baptist built in 1852, and situated in Upper Dharamshala. Its churchyard is the final resting place of Lord Elgin, who served as Governor-General & Viceroy of India in 1861 during the British Raj, though he soon died at Dharamshala on 20 November 1863, and was buried there.
Later in the evening Sachin laid the foundation stone of the HPCA Cricket Museum and the inaugurated the Centre of Excellence in the HPCA Cricket stadium in Dharamshala in the presence of ex BCCI Chief Anuraag Thakur. Sachin is in the town on a 4 days tour, will return back to Delhi tomorrow.
