Alhaji Lai Mohammed said this while receiving a delegate from the Association of Truism Practitioners of Nigeria, ATPN.
The Minister said that the publication by the United States declaring 20 states in Nigeria to be unsafe and completely a no-go area” is completely untrue.
In his words, “According to a report in United States which newspapers recently carried that 20 states in Nigeria are not safe”
He said, “that is not correct because there is no state in Nigeria that is not safe today, we are in Nigeria and how can it be that 20 states in Nigeria is not safe”
The Minister said, “Is there any week in the United States that they are not killing people, either shooting in schools, mass bombing, driveways or people committing suicide, how many of these stories have their media published and said that the United States is not safe”?
“If they want to tell their people not to come to Nigeria they should not do that by saying 20 states in Nigeria is not safe”
He admonished the media o desist from spreading lies and negative news about the country adding that it would discourage investors and inhibit tourism growth.
The Minister of Information and Culture urged the media and members of the association to complement efforts of government.
