ASSOCHAM suggests Haryana to re-christen Global Investor Summit as ‘Resilient Haryana’ in wake of recent incidents
In the backdrop of massive loss of lives and property in the recent violence,ASSOCHAM has advised the Haryana Government to re-christen its ensuing ‘ Happening Haryana Global Investor Summit’ as ‘ Resilient Haryana’ , re-assuring the industry, business and human resources that these incidents were ‘ One – Off, Never-Again’ unfortunate event.
“If at all, the state government wants to organise the investor summit as per schedule, it has to work hard and restore confidence of the people in the government law –enforcement agencies, mainly the Police. The damage to property and lives on the National Highway linking Delhi-Rohtak and on NH 1 on Delhi-Panipat can certainly not be buried under the carpet. However, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar should come on top of the situation and convey in no uncertain terms that the law of the land would never be allowed to be violated again, whatever it takes. Only then, the sense of security among the people and the industry can be re-instilled,” the chamber said in a statement.
The Happening Haryana Global Investor Summit is scheduled between March 7-8, to be followed by Parvasi Haryana Divas in Gurgaon.
It said those involved in the violence should be brought to justice by speedy investigation and faster adjudication. “Haryana has been known as one of the best performing states in terms of business environment, leading in different economic parameters. The recent Jaat reservation agitation shows how one event can take the state back by decades and it would take long time to repair the damage. However, it is up to the state political and administrative leadership to restore confidence,” ASSOCHAM said, adding it would extend full support to the state machinery in this endeavour.
The chamber said the solution to some of the social issues lies in creation of large-scale employment so that the entire reservation debate becomes redundant. “Haryana, like rest of the country has the potential to create quality jobs for millions of people by attracting investment in a host of sectors like IT and ITEs, food processing, retailing, and manufacturing. Gurgaon is a classic example what the business and industry can do to the benefit of the state and its people. If peace and competent administration is ensured, the state can create several other Gurgaon like employment hubs in Jhajjar, Rohtak, Panipat, Karnal, Ambala, Sonepat, Rewari and Bhiwani. Besides, the state can develop tourism hubs in places like Yamunanagar.“
Let the forthcoming Global Investor Summit be a platform for a new resolve in this direction with a clear message to the people of the state that they will always have the first charge on the growth and prosperity of Haryana, ASSOCHAM said.
