Jesse is one of those people with a contagious laugh and that always has a fun point of view. Mexican food connoisseur and from my perspective one of the smartest people I get to work with. In this week’s Life at Rocket Lawyer meet Jesse Lara, from our sales team.
What do you do at Rocket Lawyer and what’s your favorite part about your job?
I handle Sales Operations and Strategic Partnerships at Rocket Lawyer. My favorite part is working with a team that puts in every ounce of effort day in and day out.
Dumb and Dumber: Now I know this doesn’t sound very deep but I quote the movie often. Additionally, it’s one of those movies my siblings and I loved growing up.
Some close runner ups are: Shawshank Redemption, The Bourne Identity, and Casino
If you could have dinner and pick the brain of any famous person (celebrity, politician, musician, etc.), who would it be and why?
Jim Carrey: I’ve been watching him as a comedian since his days on In Living Color as Fire Marshall Bill and through all his movies. His life story is one that many can draw inspiration from. However where he has really impressed me was his commencement speech which I encourage you to watch. Between the Jim Carrey we know on screen and who he is off screen, I would like to have dinner with him.
Tell me your favorite Rocket Lawyer story
After being here for four years, this one is tough because there are so many to share…I guess I will have to say my favorite story thus far is the journey I’ve had here. From starting out as a sales rep to now running sales operations, its one I owe many thanks to those who gave me a chance to prove myself. Along the way, I’ve made many life long friends and picked up a nickname as Miguel!
What’s your proudest moment at Rocket Lawyer?
Being part of the founding team that started the legal benefits channel is something I will always be proud of. It’s been a struggle getting it off the ground but with the right leadership, team and straight up hustle, we are becoming a meaningful part of the success Rocket Lawyer is having in 2017.
Best advice you’ve received?
Fake it till you make it
“The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past. We cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude. I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it. And so it is with you. We are in charge of our attitudes.” – Charles Swindoll
