Donald Trump Verbally Attacks Pakinstan Stating U.S. has Only Received “lies & deceit” from them

On Monday, the first day of the new year, Donald Trump posted a message on Twitter calling out Pakistan for allegedly giving safe havens to terrorists, while taking billions in aid from the United States over the last 15 years.

The actual tweet read:

“The United States has foolishly given Pakistan more than 33 billion dollars in aid over the last 15 years, and they have given us nothing but lies & deceit, thinking of our leaders as fools. They give safe haven to the terrorists we hunt in Afghanistan, with little help. No more!”

Amidst already dwindling relationships between the United States and Pakinstan, the tweet suggests that aid to the country is wasted if terrorist activities continue to flourish.

Aid of 255 million dollars annually given Islamabad to be used for military assistance, may be limited in the future by requiring the country put forth more effort to stop terrorism. A New York Times report stated the white house is seriously entertaining the idea of withholding the military aid.

The proposition to withhold the funds comes after an incident where Pakistani forces refused to allow the United States access to a militant linked to the Taliban. The militant had been captured earlier in fall of this year, after kidnapping a Canadian-American family and holding them for several years.

Pakistan officials also came under fire when an alleged mastermind of the 2008 attacks in Mumbai responsible for more than 160 deaths, was released from his house arrest earlier this week. Hafiz Saeed was released from his home custody, and shortly after the United States placed a monetary reward on him.
