With the border standoff still unresolved, India and China will hold Corps Commander level talks in next two-three days. The agenda and issues to be raised by the Indian side in the meeting were discussed and finalised during a high-level meeting attended by National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval and Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat, news agency ANI reported citing top government sources.
According to reports, India is likely to press for simultaneous disengagement and de-escalation by the Chinese side in the Eastern Ladakh sector during the meeting of two Corps Commanders.
The two sides have been locked in a bitter border dispute along the LAC in Eastern Ladakh since early May. In June, the Indian and Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) troops engaged in a violent exchange which resulted in the death of 20 Indian soldiers and significant damage to the Chinese side.
