YouTube Channel Update

Tags: youtube

At the start of the year, I was armed with lots of moment from the New Year. One of my resolutions was to create a Youtube Channel and take it live. Well, it is now May 2021, and I still haven’t gone live. What gives? What am I waiting for? And, what is holding me back? Let’s take a look.

What Steps Have I Taken To Launch My YouTube Channel?

Launching a YouTube channel is both exciting and scary. It reminded me of how I was feeling when I decided to create this blog. When I created this blog, I wasn’t sure if anyone was going to read it or like its content. But I did it anyway. Quite frankly, I find it a bit therapeutic to post my thoughts about personal finance and share them on this site. Over time, I got a little bit more comfortable with posting and creating content here. Although I write about different things from time to time, a staple of this blog has been the monthly dividend income reports! That will remain the case for the foreseeable future.

I still have to work on overcoming my fear of failure in creating a YouTube channel. I’m not sure if anyone is going to watch my videos, or even like my videos. Moreover, I’m concerned with how much time it’s going to take to create and edit videos and I’m not particular good at either of those things.

Despite that, I have taken some steps already towards creating a YouTube Channel. I’ve watched numerous videos about creating a channel, and I’ve even created my very own channel and recorded my first video! But, I still haven’t uploaded it to YouTube to make it go live.

The Next Motivational Spark

Honestly, I am waiting for the next motivational spark to help me hit the upload button. I anticipate it will come either in July or by October of this year!

Huh? Let me explain.

As you may know, I just bought a house. So, at present, my living situation is a bit in flux. Although I can make videos anywhere, I prefer a dedicated spot to make videos. I don’t really have that where I’m living. Additionally, the first video I made was in a park, and I didn’t like that experience.

One of the cool things about the house is that it has 4 bedrooms, 3 of which are spacious bedrooms. The 4th bedroom is on the smaller side and is a perfect space for an office. Quite frankly, that’s how the current owners are using that space and I plan on continuing that trend. So, I intend on setting up an office in my home, in part to have a consistent background for my YouTube videos.

Finally, the second spark might come in either September or October. And honestly, I might wait until then before choosing to post my first video (if at all). This is entirely dependent on work and what happens with my job then. I’m expecting to receive an announcement then which will impact whether or not I choose to go online with YouTube. While I know I’m not being specific, I just wanted to put that out there, that I am waiting to see what life will be like in September or October.

Conclusion

Starting a YouTube channel is still in the works. I will be using my phone or my laptop to do the recordings initially. I even bought a tripod for my phone. Additionally, I will have a dedicated space to record my videos. All that’s missing is that last mental hurdle of hitting the upload button.

Truth be told, I am not worried about missing the boat or anything like that. I just want to ensure that when I do decide to go on YouTube, I am mentally ready for it. If you couldn’t tell by now, I am an incredibly private person, and while there are ways to do YouTube privately, I’m not really considering those options at the moment. So wish me luck.
