In a statement issue by the ministry after the meeting, it was said that the airport will be developed on Public Private Partnership model (PPP). Along with this fixed timelines have also been fixed for various activities and responsibilities have been assigned to the concerned departments.

YEIDA chairman Prabhat Kumar also informed that the first phase of acquisition of land measuring 1,327 hectares for construction of terminal buildings and runways is expected to be initiated in June this year.
The Jewar airport project is one of the most ambitious projects of both center and state. The project was the dream of current Home Minister Rajnath Singh who was the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh in 2001. This project took waves after initial approval by Union Government in 2017. From then the development work took at a very fast pace whether it is finalizing the land or various other documentations.
Recently it was also decided to develop this airport in a full-fledged aviation hub. The airport once completed will be India’s biggest airport and will help in easing the passenger traffic of Delhi’s IGI airport. The Noida International Greenfield Airport is located about 72 km from Delhi airport. Many alternative routes are also being planned to lessen this distance.
