The benchmark indices ended higher on Thursday’s volatile trade, as investors waited for early forecasts on the winner of a key state election. The Nifty of National Stock Exchange closed 59 points up at 10,252, while the BSE Sensex was 194 points up at 33,247 on closing.
The Nifty volatility index hit its highest level since February 1 on Thursday. Overseas, The US Fed Reserve raised interest rates for a third time this year on Wednesday, but left its rate outlook unchanged.
Shares of Ruchi Soya Industries and Uttam Value Steels cracked over 10% on NSE on Thursday. On the other hand, shares of Remsons Industries, Bedmutha Industries, Transwarranty Finance, Rainbow Papers, JVL Agro Industries and Malu Paper Mills were the stocks that declined over 9% on NSE.
Shares of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation, Dr Reddy’s Lab, Tech Mahindra Indian Oil Corporation, HCL Technologies and ITC stood as the top gainers in the Nifty50 index, each gaining more than 2%. ON the other hand, shares of Tata Consultancy Services, UPL, GAIL (India), Aurobindo Pharma, Sun Pharma, UltraTech Cement and Coal India settled as the losers in the Nifty50 index.
