Computer Sounds – December 2017 Falcon Finds

Start making computer sounds and build us an alt coin…

Falcon Finds is a monthly curation of the most interesting things found and shared by the Sneaky Falcon team. These are the articles, ideas, businesses, and more discussed by the group in the month of November.

“History of Bitcoin

$500: It’s a bubble!

$1000: It’s a bubble!

$2000: It’s a bubble!

$3000: It’s a bubble!

$4000: It’s a bubble!

$5000: It’s a bubble!

$6000: It’s a bubble!

$7000: It’s a bubble!

$8000: I think it’s time to buy…to the moon!” – Ramp Capital via twitter

Bitcoin is now trading for $17,150 at the time of this writing…  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Family Time x Turkey x Bitcoin

With Thanksgiving in the rear view mirror, and the December holidays right around the corner, that more than likely means a lot of time with family and close friends. Which is great, until your crazy uncle brings up some polarizing, hot button topic and pisses off the whole dinner table.

Hopefully, everyone will avoid arguing about politics this time around. But an inescapable topic for the end of 2017 may just be bitcoin.

In this amusing article shared by Adam, Marketwatch shares tips and tricks on what to do if someone at your thanksgiving dinner asks “explain bitcoin to me.” Same applies this month as well…

What in pod’s name are you doing?

When we aren’t busy with our day jobs or all of the other things in life we are tackling when not thinking about Sneaky Falcon, a lot of the team members enjoy a good podcast. Two that we’ve been loving recently are:

Animal Spirits – Co-hosted by the investors behind A Wealth of Common Sense and The Irrelevant Investor, Michael & Ben bring an educated take to all things happening in the financial markets. From the incredible bull run to a Wall Street view of bitcoin, they provide a ton of interesting and amusing commentary.

Tales from the Crypt – As you know, we, like everyone else, have gotten hooked on the whole cryptocurrency phenomenon. Naturally we are trying to learn more about the technology and the whole movement. Providing historical context and insider interviews, Tales from the Crypt is already becoming a go to source of info for us.

The next great party game: Cryptocurrencies in 4 words

Eric passed along this one, and it’s actually a pretty handy cheat sheet. With so many cryptocurrencies out there, and new ones popping up every day, its hard to keep track of what they do and how they are different.

It’s Yahoo (remember them?) to the rescue! In this amusing list, Yahoo Finance describes 100 cryptocurrencies in 4 words or less. Now you can sound smart describing alternatives to bitcoin.

Mmm Mmm M1 Finance

If you are following us on twitter, you have probably heard us mention M1 Finance. It’s a relatively new robo-advisor platform that we’ve linked up with. With it’s low costs, clean interface, and flexible portfolio building tools, almost half the team has opted to give it a try. The M1 team is also constantly updating and improving the platform, so it’s getting better all the time.

While it’s admittedly not that great for the advanced and active trader, it is perfect for those who want to build a relatively hands-off, diversified portfolio, but still want to retain control over investment decisions. Plus there are no trading commission fees, and you can invest in fractional shares with ease.

“I’m making the sounds but nothing is happening” – Chris
“Chris’ text 30 minutes ago actually made me lol because I pictured him saying it frantically” – Adam
“Now I can’t unsee him sitting in front of three or four monitors slapping his keyboard and shouting angrily” – Sean
“Lol. Pretty sure that’s how it works” – Jordan
“Can confirm that is what i do all day at work” – Chris
