Dragon: The Weapon Of God (2022)

Tags: movie fight race

When this Movie started I thought it'd be all about black power, with the New Black Order, with the corrupt and hostile white major, and the righteous white police officer, all the stereotypes and clichés and further fuel for the race wars... but as it turns out it wasn't that. It was a martial arts movie, or a superhero movie, with an unaware black hero spearheading the peace, and uniting races in a fight against evil, no matter their color or creed.

The quality's low, the more emotional scenes often clip the audio, encounters and dialogs often feel a little staged, and the fight scenes really aren't anything to brag about, but on the other hand it really seems they tried, and were passionate about the movie as much as they were about the mission, so when it's all said and done I'm actually feeling strangely emotional. Like there really is a force of good in the world after all. And that some people don't judge, or that judgement can be overcome; that there can actually be a semblance of unity and understanding no matter how different the cliques we grow up in.

Can't in good faith recommend anyone watch this movie for the qualities of the movie itself, but for the message maybe. For a restoration of hope and happiness and a feeling that what you do does have an impact. Like for example if you make something like this. If you all get together, and go against each other, and come together again. Both for real and in the movie and for real.

A few glimpses of the scenes, to maybe show the good and bad alike, the dark and light, the farce and fight, the city lights at the bottom like our stars shine bright:

It's a love story between a white girl and a black man too. That's central.

 rated 3/5: not bad
