DDT Ransomware

A recent member of the Ransomware family has been identified to be the DDT Ransomware – a file-locker that applies the ‘.{[email protected]}DDT’ extension to the names of the files it locks. Unfortunately, recovering from the DDT Ransomware’s attack for free may be an impossible task due to the lack of a free decryption tool for this ransomware family. The GlobeImposter 2.0 Ransomware family is not as popular as the Dharma Ransomware or the STOP Ransomware families, but it is still a threat that must not be underestimated due to its ability to swiftly cause significant damage to the important files of its victims.

Of course, the authors of the DDT Ransomware offer a decryption solution, but the terms of their offer are not acceptable – they demand to receive a Bitcoin payment in exchange for their file recovery software. However, there is no proof that the decryptor exists and works – a red flag that cannot be ignored. The full instructions and message of the DDT Ransomware’s authors are found in the file ‘how_to_back_files.html,’ which should be present on any computer infected by this file-locker.

We would not advise you to co-operate with the attackers since this is unlikely to lead to anything positive. Instead, you should use an anti-malware utility to dispose of the DDT Ransomware, and then try to get your files back via data recovery programs.
