A Ramping Ratio Of Ransomware Is Concern Of Organizations, Says CyberEdge

CyberEdge group comes with report about ramping ratio of Ransomware. Around 61% of organizations had faced ransomware in 2016. Out of those, 54% organizations were managed to get their data back without paying single ransom while 33% organizations had to pay ransom amount and 13% refused to pay the ransom amount. The biggest risk of organizations is untrained employees. Even, there are network breaches is also growing. If we look at cyber-attacks, the number is also rising from 70% in 2015, which recorded at 76% in 2016.

Fortune 1000 Companies Are Likely To Face Cyber-Attack, Says BitSight Research

Fortune 1000 companies suffered twice in their lifecycle, says BitSight Research report. The company revealed a list of companies that are likely to affect with cyber-attack. In this report, the companies, which are having security rating of 500 or lowers, are carrying five times more likely to affect Publicly Disclosed Breach. The data can be used by organizations to know risks they possess while sharing data or accessing network. Over 15 last months, the researchers revealed that there was one in every 20 Fortune 1000 companies, which had experienced publicly disclosed breach, which had experienced publicly disclosed breach.

The New Malware Is On Rise, Says Symantec’s Intelligence Report

Symantec brought its Latest Intelligence report for February 2017, which shows that the number of new malwares on rise and the online world is facing new Shamoon attackers. The new malware increased to 94.1 million which is the highest level seen since October 2016. The high number of new malware is caused to increase in Kovter (Trojan.Kotver) family of threats. The rate of email malware was also increased from one in 722 to one in 635 emails.

Messenger App “Confide” Used By President Staff Is Vulnerable

The messaging app “Confide” used by the White House seems vulnerable. The President of USA and its associates that allow military- grade end-to-end encryption to use this app. However, security researchers at Seattle-based IOActive revealed multiple vulnerabilities after the audit of its version-1.4.2. The app seems vulnerable on Android, Mac OS X, Windows platforms. The flaws allow attackers to imitate contacts by hijacking accounts as well can spy on details of users including real names, email address, etc.

WikiLeaks Leaked CIA’s Hacking Abilities

WikiLeaks has published confidential documents regarding US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). The details include CIA’s global covert hacking program. WikiLeaks published first archive dubbed as “Vault 7” that includes 8761 documents with 513 MB in size. The documents disclosed about the zero day exploits made for different OS like iOS, Android, and Microsoft’s Windows. In its initial analysis, the report focused on CIA’s hacking ability including bypassing of encryption of WhatsApp, Signal, Telegram, Confide, etc. The exploits came from sources like NSA, GCHQ, and private exploit traders.
