Do you get the dreaded “The transaction could not be completed on Google Play” when you try to buy? Possible solutions

Transactions on Google Play are the bread of the day, but sometimes they come with problems. There are complicated situations, such as suspicious apps that try to take your money from the bank, and other simpler ones that can prevent you from making the purchase at the moment . Has it happened to you that you try it and you get the notice “The transaction could not be completed on Google Play”? If you don’t know how to fix it, pay attention to this article.

For different reasons, it is possible to have problems when you want to buy something on Google Play, be it a specific app or the paid version of an app or game. However, the reasons are usually technical problems that are easy to solve through some recommendations or actions that you will learn about below.

First of all: make sure you have enough funds in your Google Play account

This is the most basic and for which many have difficulties making a Purchase, without realizing it. And it is that if you do not keep in mind how many expenses you regularly make or have a clear idea of the current status of your Google Play account and its funds, the application may reject you when you buy something .

In addition to confirming your balance, remember to enter the correct credentials . If you make a mistake several times, Google Play will temporarily block your purchase. Another common problem is that you try to use the fingerprint to identify yourself and it does not seem to be accepted; in that case it is better to change to the manual password.

Clear cache on Google Play Store and also on Google Play Services

Whenever you use an application, the settings and options that you tend to use are saved on the device to later streamline your future interactions with the application in question. The same happens in Google Play, which records all your added accounts, default options and purchases made in the cache.

This is very comfortable, but it has its defect. Usually, over time, the data becomes corrupted , and it may interfere when you want to make a purchase. If it happens to you, try clearing the cache of not only the Google Play Store app, but also Google Play Services, as the latter is always mediating between third-party apps and the Play Store.

To do so, follow the steps below:

  • Go to Settings .
  • Select Apps .
  • Search for the Google Play Store app and enter it.
  • Click on Storage .
  • Click on Clear cache .
  • Repeat the same process, but this time with the Google Play Services app.
  • Reboot the mobile and then try to make the purchase again.

Another point to keep in mind is that you may not have updated Google Play Services. To try this step, we already explained its procedure before.

Remove and re-add your payment method

If one of your payment methods doesn’t work, you can always add another one to try again. However, if your case is that you only have one payment method and it gives you an error, one of the ways to solve it is to remove it from your Google Play account and then reinstate it again .

You can do it this way:

  • Open the Play Store .
  • Click on your account to open its options .
  • Select Payments and subscriptions .
  • Go to Payment methods .
  • Delete your current payment method and restart your mobile.
  • Open the Play Store again, repeat the steps to get to Payment methods and click on Add credit or debit card .
  • Re-enter your credentials again and try to make the purchase .

Reinstall the third-party application that is giving you problems

Another possible cause of the error could be the application from which you want to make the purchase. If none of the steps above were able to help you and you are still getting the error, then it is time to focus not on the Play Store, but on the other app where you are selecting your purchase wish.

It is possible that your data is corrupted, or it was updated badly . In any case, the best thing will always be to uninstall it and reinstall it as new and then try again. The procedure is just as simple:

  • Go into Settings .
  • Select Apps .
  • Find the application in question and click on it.
  • Select the Uninstall option.
  • Restart your mobile.
  • Then, proceed to enter the Play Store and download the application from there again .
  • Try again to make your purchase.

Remove your Google account and add it again in the Play Store

Finally, we can only try to fix the error by removing your Google Account and adding it again . If you do this, you will be restarting your services, which when reinstalled, should fix any issues that may be occurring.

To do this procedure, you just have to follow the following steps:

  • Open Settings .
  • Select under Accounts and backup .
  • Go to the Manage accounts option.
  • Select your Google Account .
  • Click on Delete account .
  • Repeat the process in all the Google accounts that you have linked, if this is your case.
  • Reboot the device.
  • Go to the Google Play Store and sign in again.
  • Retry your purchase.

After having done any of these steps, the most common thing is that your problem is solved and you can make your purchase. In case this is not the case, there is one last alternative that should be the definitive one : write to the Google support team so that they can look at your problem and help you directly.
