Snapdragon 782G: this is Qualcomm's new mid-range chip

Everything would seem to indicate that the “surprises” in the world of processors for mobile devices are far from over. After officially presenting the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, the Qualcomm company had another “bundle up its sleeve” , as the firm in question announced a chip that no one expected .

It is nothing more and nothing less than the Snapdragon 782G , SoC that comes as a kind of update of the well-known Snapdragon 778G+. According to its specifications, which you can discover right here, we are facing a chip that is intended to be included in mid-range mobile devices .

Snapdragon 782G: power and speed for the mid-range

Thanks to the statement presented by Qualcomm, we can know that its manufacturing process is 6 nanometers and that it also has a 64-bit architecture. Likewise, it contains a total of 8 cores that work at a maximum frequency of 2.7 GHz.

In the same way, there is a lot of controversy about the technical specifications of this Chip, since Qualcomm has omitted to mention the distribution of those cores . Other media indicate that it has the same configuration as the Snapdragon 778G+ (in terms of cores):

  • A cluster with a Kryo 670 Prime core up to 2.7 GHz.
  • Three Kryo 670 Gold up to 2.2 GHz.
  • And a last cluster with 4 Kryo 670 Silver up to 1.9 GHz.

High-end connectivity

In addition, it includes the famous Snapdragon X53 5G Modem-RF System technology, which supports 5G and Sub-6 GHz networks , what does this mean? It supports a maximum download speed of 3.7 Gbps, and an upload speed of 1.6 Gbps.

For its part, this new processor boasts the Qualcomm FastConnect 6700 system, which supports WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity . It should be noted that WiFi covers the following bands: 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz and 6 GHz.

Compatible with various camera setups

As for the photographic section, we can find the Qualcomm Spectra Image Signal Processor, which has the capacity to support up to three 22 MP cameras , or a combination of two 36 MP + 22 MP cameras , and up to a single 64 lens. PM . Whatever the case, these setups could capture video in 4K at 30 FPS .

The rest of the specifications of this chip are the ones that we mention below:

  • Supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+ fast charging technology.
  • It is compatible with displays that have Full HD+ resolution at 144Hz , as well as external displays (for foldable phones) that offer 4K at 60Hz with HDR10 and HDR10+ .
  • It incorporates up to 16 GB of LPDDR5 RAM at 3200 MHz , as well as internal storage of the UFS 3.1 type.

Without much more to add, the North American company Qualcomm did not inform when this new processor will be available . Similarly, some rumors indicate that it would reach the market with the Honor 80 series.
