Having a Wifi 6 router/WAP really makes a difference

I upgraded my router/WAP to something that is Wifi 6 and it really makes a difference.

Before I got on average 144mbps on a 2.4Ghz Connection. I didn’t use the 5Ghz because it wasn’t reliable. After getting the new device it defaulted to 5Ghz and my speed 1,100mpbs. It has been reliable and it has helped me in many ways.

Like many people I am working from home and connecting to an office though a VPN. That VPN was reliable on my old connection but slower compared to this new Equipment. Now for example when I have to reenroll my computer it doesn’t take 15 minutes but 8. That is a worthwhile time savings to me.

The cost is either a one time flat rate of $300 or $15 a month. I choose $15 a month because I didn’t know if it would be better. Now I know it will be better I will call back and buy it. They don’t offer a trade in program so I am stuck with my old equipment. ISP’s rarely offer a trade in program for old equipment. I’m sure it helps their profit margins.

Is there a downside to this equipment? Not so far. I have it on the floor and it is working great. The signal is at max and it defaulted to the proper and ideal settings for macintosh equipment. It was easy to setup and only took me about 15 minutes. It came with an extra ethernet cable and other pieces that some people might need. It also arrived the next day after I ordered it. It was a very quick setup. When I called they said I could go to a store, but of course I am trying to limit social contact so I had them mail it. That mail cost was $10 which was worth it to me.

If you are working from home, upgrading your internet connection really makes your life easier. You won’t regret doing it.
