A guide to painting for beginners

This is a detailed Guide to Painting for beginners looking to get started. I considered what I would do when writing this if I were to go back and learn to paint all over again.

You should understand precisely why you want to take up painting and what you want to get out of it before you run out and buy all the new art supplies and starting pouring paint on the canvas.

How you continue and what you can work on studying can be decided by your responses. I don’t accept that to master art, there is a static learning direction that anyone must pursue. Everyone has numerous tendencies, desires, and natural abilities that decide the optimal course of learning they can follow.

Next, at least for the short term, you can settle on a Medium to work on. This will help you to get an understanding of how the medium works, so that you can then pay more attention to the aspects of painting in the big picture, such as color, composition, value, etc.

Oils, acrylics, and watercolors are the main options. Few other choices are available, such as gouache and water-mixable oils, but in this guide, I will not touch on these.

There’s no correct answer here, but I suggest you start with acrylics or oils if you’re just starting with the painting. But if you are up to the challenge, feel free, to begin with, watercolors.

This is also not to suggest you have to pick a medium and disregard the rest. I advise you to use all sorts of different mediums but have one that you particularly concentrate on and get acquainted with. It’s easier to be a master of one medium than, in all mediums, to be the average.

Instead of only investing in hours for the sake of it, I am a strong believer in learning effectively. If you don’t know what you are doing, you can train for years and barely advance. This is where art’s basics-color, value, composition, edges, brushwork, and technique-come into play.

Before you pick up your brush-choosing a subject to paint-one of the most difficult facets of painting exists. Just make sure your paint night is going to be awesome. Inspiring and demanding should be an ideal subject. The desire to color it should be felt.
