The announcement came hours after officials said human remains were found in a wooded area in Alabama.
Briana Williams, Taylor’s mother, was charged at a Florida hospital, where she was being treated for an apparent overdose, Sheriff Williams stated. She was in severe condition.
Williams said that “The suspect has been absentee charged at a local hospital after being admitted to the hospital today due to an apparent overdose of some sort.”
Williams stated it was uncertain whether the child’s mother had tried to take her own life.
“Only she knows that. I know there was what seems to be an overdose or she is ingested something, and We do not know as of yet,” he stated.
“This is obviously not the result any of us had expected to reach,” said the Florida state attorney for the 4th Judicial Circuit, Melissa Nelson. “This investigation has led to what we think to be the remains of Taylor Rose.”
The Florida state attorney for the 4th Judicial Circuit, Melissa Nelson, stated that “many interrogations still loom and our office’s work is just starting.”
On Tuesday, the Demopolis Police Department in Alabama stated that human remains were discovered during the search for the missing girl. Demopolis is approximately 100 miles west of Montgomery.
‘The multi-agency investigative team included in the hunt for missing Taylor Rose Williams confirmed that investigative teams discovered human remains in a wooded area between the cities of Linden and Demopolis, Alabama,’ the police department stated in a Facebook post. “Victim identification is waiting.”
