Russia’s Megafon sues Hewlett Packard in the U.S. over cellular network outages

Russia’s No 2 mobile phone operator Megafon, is suing the HP enterprise in a court in California over major outages on its cellular network according to the documents provided by the court. Megafon ensured that it had filed a claim, and said that it is ready for a settlement with HPE. HPE had declined the comment on the “ongoing legal matters”.

HPE had said to Reuters that it has rejected the allegations in the lawsuit of Megafon, and also said that it would defend itself “vigorously”. The User Data Repository system of HPE suffered from a huge number of cascading catastrophic failures which led to major outrages of the network. Some of these failures had led to a shutdown of cellular network of subscribers who are more than 80 million. The damages of Megafon include the funds paid to HPE.

Megafon has decided to upgrade its wireless network. It has signed a deal with the HPE’s division of Russia after getting interested in the contract from Ericson, NSN, ZTE, Alcatel, Tekelec, Huawei, and Oracle, the lawsuit said. It has been planned by Amazon to split HQ2 between 2 cities. Megafon in a court document had mentioned that it had awarded the contract to HPE, and promised the best solution. A system built by HPE which has meant to let Megafon unite its regional workers. In a lawsuit, Megafon had said that this proved to be faulty, and thus failed.
