President Ram NathKovind on Sunday gave his assent to all the three contentious Farm Bills, which opposition parties say are anti-farmer and corporate-friendly, after they were recently passed by Parliament.
The Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement of Price Assurance and Farm Services Bill, 2020, seeks to give farmers the right to enter into a contract with agribusiness firms, processors, wholesalers, exporters, or large retailers for the sale of future farming produce at a pre-agreed price. And the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Bill, 2020, seeks to remove commodities like cereals, pulses, oilseeds, onion, and potato from the list of essential commodities and will do away with the imposition of stock holding limits.

CM KCR TO LAUNCH DHARANI ON DASARA:
Chief Minister K ChandrashekharRao will launch the much-awaited Dharani portal on the auspicious occasion of Dasara next month. He directed the officials concerned to complete all the preparations including software, hardware and also internet bandwidth before launching the portal as per schedule. Immediately after the website is launched, the government will also open the doors for registration of lands and other properties as per the new Revenue Act.

NCB Chief RakeshAsthana Reviews Evidence In ‘Bollywood Drug Probe’; Meets Mumbai Team:
As the ‘drug probe’ into Bollywood intensifies, Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) chief RakeshAsthana along with 3-4 officers has travelled from Delhi to Mumbai to review the case, report sources on Sunday. The Ncb Chief accompanied by Joint Director Sameer Wankhede has spoken with the NCB Mumbai team and is allegedly analysing the evidence gathered till date in the case. Asthana, who took charge in August, was previously the CBI special director and grabbed the spotlight in the 2018 ‘CBI vs CBI’ case when his senior- then-CBI director AlokVerma registered an FIR against him. All charges were cleared by the CBI later.
