In just three days, water level in Upper Lake has risen by a whopping 9 feet, buoyed by not only the downpour in Bhopal but also massive influx from the catchment in Sehore since Monday.
Bada Talab is just 3.5 feet short of full tank level. Once it touches that, the floodgates at Bhadbhada will be opened — for the first time in three years.
Upper Lake is Bhopal’s lifeline. This summer was so harsh and prolonged that the water level had dropped to its lowest in years.
Upper Lake provides 40% of the city’s water needs and is the only man made lake in the country whose water is supplied to homes.
