KATHMANDU: Indian Army chief Gen Bipin Rawat will embark on a three-day visit to Nepal next week to attend the Himalayan nation’s Army Day and Maha Shivaratri celebrations, according to Army sources here.
The Indian Army chief and Nepal Army chief Gen Rajendra Chhetri will hold bilateral talks at Nepal Army headquarters during the visit beginning February 13, said Nepal Army sources without giving further details.

Rawat’s trip is a regular visit and there is a tradition of exchange of visits between the chiefs of the two armies.

Rawat’s visit comes days after External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj Visited Nepal.

Swaraj visited Nepal on February 1 where she called on President Bidya Devi Bhandari, Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and held talks with CPN-Maoist Centre chairman ‘Prachanda’.
Meanwhile, US Army Pacific Commanding General Robert B Brown held bilateral talks with Chhetri at the Army Headquarters.
During the meeting they discussed matters relating to bilateral interest and mutual cooperation, according to a statement by the Nepal Army.
The senior US Army official, who is here on a four day visit will return home on Sunday.
