Craft and handloom of India in Jaipur

Be it accessories, artefacts or saris and suits of different fabric – a craft exhibition held in Jaipur recently saw different works from every nook and corner of the country under one roof.
The ongoing exhibition, Crafts of India at Jawahar Kala Kendra, which will continue till February 4, has around 80 stalls from every state of the country,selling a wide variety of handloom products and handicrafts items.
Abhay Yadav from Tripura, whose stall has artefacts and accessories made of bamboo wood, said, “Creating a figurine takes almost a month, which generally costs between ₹700 and ₹1000.” At another stall, where the owner has come from Tikamgarh in MP, metal artefacts including statues and diyasare being sold. The prices of the items ranges from ₹100 to ₹80,000.” The stall owner tells us, “All our items are handcrafted and our entire family is into making these stuff.”
Regional handloom products, be it Banarasi saris, Kashimiri shawls and suits, Banglore silk cloths, suits and saris in Lucknow chikan,Bhadoi carpets,are selling like hot cake at the exhibition.A shop owner Bhupendra Yadav, selling Karanatak silk saris,said,”We have a wide variety of silk ranging from ₹2000 to ₹20,000.”
The expo is a shoppers’ delight. Buyers Harshit and Chaitrali,who were choosing from a wide variety of wooden vases from Saharanpur, said, “This exquisite expo is a visual treat for people who really love art. We are here to buy something to make our abode look different and beautiful.”
