Raina recalled for SA T20Is

NEW DELHI: Suresh Raina has been named in the India squad for the South Africa T20I Series slated for next month. The left-handed Raina returns to the national setup after last playing against England in February last year, also in a T20I series.
The 16-man squad, to be led by Virat Kohli, will take on South Africa in a three-match T20I series that starts from February 21 following the six-match ODI series.
The middle order batsman last played a T20I for India in February 2017 during a home series against England and despite performing fairly well as he scored 103 runs across the three games as India won 2-1 and was ignored for the subsequent series as he failed to pass the now mandatory Yo-Yo test. However, after eventually passing the aforementioned fitness test, Raina roared back into contention with eye-catching performances in the domestic Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy where he struck a blistering hundred for Uttar Pradesh against Bengal.
Rohit Sharma will return to vice-captaincy duties after leading the team in limited-overs in the absence of Kohli against Sri Lanka last year in December. Opener Shikhar Dhawan is also back after being rested for the Sri Lanka T20I series at home. Pacer Shardul Thakur keeps has also been recalled but youngsters Shreyas Iyer, Basil Thampi, Mohammed Siraj, Deepak Hooda and Washington Sundar have been dropped.
Squad: Virat Kohli (captain) Rohit Sharma (vice-captain), Shikhar Dhawan, KL Rahul, Suresh Raina, Mahendra Singh Dhoni (wicketkeeper), Dinesh Karthik, Hardik Pandya, Manish Pandey, Axar Patel, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah, Jaydev Unadkat, Shardul Thakur
