NEW DELHI: Investigation by the Computer Emergency Response Team-India (CERT-In), which analyses and counters cyber threats, into instances of Suicides by children while allegedly playing the Blue Whale Challenge game has failed to establish any link between the suicides and the game.
In a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday, minister of state for home Hansraj Gangaram Ahir said that while all states and Union Territories that had reported cases of children committing suicide while playing Blue Whale Challenge, had been asked to monitor the situation and take action against proponent of the game, a committee set up under CERT-In director general to probe the suicides had not found involvement of the game in any instances.
The committee, Ahir said, “analysed internet activities, device activities, call records and other social media activity and also interacted with rescued victims associated with these incidents”. However, “involvement of game in any of these incidents couldn’t be established,” he added.
