NEW DELHI: Congress today moved Supreme Court Seeking directions to the Election Commission of India to count and cross verify at least 25% of the VVPAT paper trail with the EVM votes, reported ANI.
Congress leaders, Abhishek Manu Singhvi and Kapil Sibal, will appear for Congress in the matter, which is likely to be heard today.
The president of Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee, Bharat Solanki, termed it a necessary step to restore the faith of people in the electoral system.

Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) machines are used during election process to verify that the vote polled by a voter goes to the correct candidate.
The demand to verify the votes was made a day after voting concluded in the Gujarat assembly elections.
