Army passage row: Residents write to Prez, PM

Jaipur: Natives of Kailash Nagar locality who are into a legal dispute over a passage with the Army on Thursday demanded action against the army officers who had allegedly misbehaved with the women of the locality and outraged their modesty.

The affected people have written to the President, Prime Minister and to others, Including defence minister, army chief, governor of Rajasthan and others asking their intervention into the matter.

At a press conference, the natives while sharing the FIR lodged at the Jhotwara police station alleged that neither the police nor the army is taking action against the army officers who had outraged the modesty and misbehaved with the women in the locality.
In the letter written to the Ram Nath Kovind, President of India and Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India the residents stated that on the midnight of November, 26 the army had done a barbaric act and shameful action. “We request your intervention in the matter to take suitable action so that army does not feel itself to be above law governing this country,” stated in the letter.
Women who were injured in the assault including Inder Kanwar, Aarti Sen, Pratibha Patnayak and Kamla Devi.
In the similar case police had registered two FIR including one given by the army and another given by the natives of the colony. Source : timesofindia
