As many as 516 people made online contribution of close to Rs 2.50 lakh in the savings account of Shambulal Raigar‘s wife till Tuesday before bank authorities froze it on request from Rajasthan police. Messages were being circulated on social networking groups with account number and IFS code of Raigar‘s wife asking people to contribute to help the ‘hate’ killer to pay for legal expenses.
A senior police officer said the contributors are being identified and action will be taken against them.
“Those who contributed money into the account will be treated as associates of the accused. We are scanning the list of 516 people to identify the contributors,” said Anand Shrivastava, IG (Udaipur Range).
The police have also clamped section 144 in Rajsamand following announcements of some right wing groups to take out processions and hold rallies in support of Raigar on December 14. “All processions, rallies and protests have been banned and those who defy the rule of law will be dealt with accordingly,” Shrivastava told TOI.
One Updesh Rana Thakur, who described himself as rashtriya pracharak of Vishwa Sanatan Sangh, had reportedly announced to hold rally in support of the ‘hate’ killer on Thursday. District Collector, Prem Chand Berwal, said no one had approached his office for permission to hold the rally.
