Sources in the government have confessed that Raje has directed its ministers to make the necessary changes in their official and unofficial letter pads. Some of the Union government ministers are already following the line by pasting sticker of Upadhyaya and mentioning of his centenary year below the nation emblem. Ashok Jain, chief secretary of Rajasthan government says, “The order in this regard was to come………however, I don’t know the status at this point.”
Partly admitting the move, home minister Gulab Chand Kataria told TOI, “I am not aware of pasting stickers of Upadhayaya ji but it was told at least six months ago that his image should be on individual letter pads to mark his centenary celebrations.
The move even before it was officially announced has sparked a controversy. The opposition party Congress has termed the move utilizing government machinery for propagating their ideology. “This is preposterous that a person who had never held any constitutional post will feature on the government machinery. They have right to commemorate their leader within the limits of the party fold but taking it to government is against the norms,” said Sachin Pilot, president of Rajasthan Congress.
